During my work on A Chorus Line in the spring of 2007, I was approached by our Musical Stager, James Zager, with an email he had received the night before. The email had been sent by Ed Glaser, who was producing an independent film in the Champaign-Urbana area and was in need of someone to choreograph a “silly little dance number.” I sent an email to Ed that evening, and within a week had agreed to become the Dance Choreographer and “Sam” Dance Double for Press Start. Two weeks later I met with Josh, Al, and Ed in a studio in the bowels of Krannert to teach and film a 64-count dance sequence in the style of Dance Dance Revolution. The dance sequence became the climax of the film’s training montage, and one of the most memorable parts of the movie. You can check out the trailer below, and visit the website for more content and to purchase the DVD. In the trailer, when you see the split-second clip of dancing, look for the girl in the purple power ranger suit. That’s me!
